Visionary photographer gets his due

‘Helios: Eadweard Muybridge in a Time of Change’ at SFMOMA

by Sura Wood at B.A.R

Any doubt as to whether San Francisco could call the British-born photography innovator and visionary Eadweard Muybridge its own will be quickly dispelled by SFMOMA‘s latest exhibition, Helios: Eadweard Muybridge in a Time of Change. The show, which doubles as a primer on the history of photography and the history of late-19th-century California, whose development trajectories paralleled each other, is the first comprehensive retrospective of the staggering invention and lesser-known creative output of a multidisciplinary pioneer who advanced both the art and technology of modern photography.

Phil Dancing In The Grocery Store , In a Subway Car etc

by Accidental Bear

Take art to the street. Free spirited hips and dance moves galore, Phil has put one huge smile on my face. I am surprised at the lack of response as he prances around. His free styles moves look absolutely contagious. In a world full of angst and natural disaster I welcome these little pockets of joy. Thanks Phil!

You know when you’re waiting (a long time) for the subway to pull into the station and just the right song comes through your headphones? You know the one that makes you feel like you wanna dance a mess all through that subway car and all over the platform? Well that’s what happened here and I was lucky enough to meet up with some amazing dancers to help me out!

The songs you hear are Kylie Minogue‘s “Get Outta My Way” and at the end “Better Than Today”.

The dancers are Toronto’s very own ILL NANA/DiverseCity Dance Company and they’re beautiful. They’re a super sexy, queer positive crew who “representing the super queeroe’s and real humans in all of us.”

They also teach dance and perform all over the place, learn more here:http://illnana-dcdc.com

California Man Swept Away by Tsunami

by Accidental Bear

Horrible tragedy but you can’t say you weren’t warned. Mother nature is all powerful and not to be underestimated.

The Japanese earthquake is having truly global effects. Rescue workers are searching for a California man who was washed into the sea by a tsunami when he was trying to take pictures of the incoming wave in northern California. Four others were swept off an Oregon beach earlier today, but managed to make it back to shore. The lesson for people living in beachfront communities on the West Coast? Stay inside and watch it on TV.

Allegedly Straight men kiss responding to Sydney Christian Democrat candidate Peter Madden

by Accidental Bear

One they were probably drunk, two straight guys are just horny ( as well as queers). We all have wet dreams of making out with the football team ( the whole team, go big or go home), firemen and most all straight guys. But in “real life” there are intentions behind straight men locking lips.

Why Were All These Straight Dudes Making Out At Sydney Mardis Gras?

Why Were All These Straight Dudes Making Out At Sydney Mardis Gras?

http://www.queerty.com/wp/wp-content/plugins/flv-embed/flvplayer.swf

These straight boys (and straight girls) were locking lips — “pashing,” as Aussies call it — over the weekend at Sydney’s Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras weren’t just experimenting with their sexuality. They were responding to Sydney Christian Democrats candidate Peter Madden, who released the YouTube videos below where he railed against the disgusting sex-obsessed, drug-fueled behavior he claims to have personally witnessed at Mardi Gras, where the “immoral” gays are recruiting kids. Were it not for Madden, says the Pash Protest organizer (and TV presenter by trade) Danny Clayton, he never would’ve had the chance to show off heteros popping their same-sex kiss cherry. via Queerty

Miguel from Sui Generis talks Seasonal Transition

Dressing for Seasonal Transition – Tip of the Week-

San Francisco is in limbo these days. How long is winter going to last for? When can we start sporting our spring apparel? With stints of wet and chilly weather followed by sunny and clear stretches you may find yourself wondering how to dress for such a transitional period of time. Well, the secret is to always be prepared.

Throw that umbrella in your bag, just in case. Be knowledgeable about the weather forecast (Weather.com Hour-By-Hour Forecast is a useful tool) Give yourself options by layeringyour clothing so you can be comfortable in a wider range of temperatures. Don’t prematurely throw on those shorts at the first signs of sun. Start to add a bit more color to your wardrobe but don’t skimp on the material just quite yet. Be patient.

In Miguel I trust!

Markaware Spring/Summer 2011 Looks

by Accidental Bear

Looks are carefree and urban. Forget day to night wear. Markaware gives us office to saffari, day to vacation and an overall feel of freedom ( unemployment). I want to walk around town in dapper clothing and stand in water fountains while my glorious beard compliments my “look”.

Markaware Spring/Summer 2011 Looks

We’re loving the look imagery from Markaware’s Spring 2011 collection. Reminds us Coldplay’s “The Scientist” video…. a little, I guess. Regardless, you’ll find fashionable looks for the gents which work for most conditions and cities… and music videos. (hnyhn)
