Students and teachers at a high school in California’s Inland Empire have submitted a number of complaints of antigay harassment to the Perris Union High School District, including allegations that a teacher called a lesbian student a “sinner.”

According to the allegations, a teacher at Paloma Valley High School in Menifee, Calif., wrote an S on a student’s hand and called her a sinner.

Among the other complains, a student group claims it was barred from doing an activity on honor of gay and lesbian history month, and gay senior Andrew Braham (pictured) says he was unfairly disciplined after a dispute with a classmate he claims was harassing him.

The West is Dead

The West is Dead…

is a men’s premium denim line launching this Spring 2011.  With inspiration drawn from vintage clothiers and craftsmen alike, each piece in our line was designed and built with emphasis on functional construction, subtle styling, and an obsession with using only the finest raw materials.

The West is Dead is the collaboration of two friends who met while working in Northern Montana.  Will was living in an abandoned school bus and Kaelen in a modified horse stall when the two of us realized our shared appreciation for denim and a concern for the dying tradition of American craftsmanship. It is our mission to protect our remaining wild places and maintain the dying tradition of uncompromising craftsmanship. Thanks to our customers we are able to support some incredible organizations and people fighting to protect these very things.  Learn more about our partners HERE or take a look at ourBLOG to see what’s new with us.

Quick Q & A with Scooter Laforge Part 1

by Accidental Bear

Accidental B. Do you consider yourself a “street artist” ? I see so much crap art around these days with so much emphasis put on the framing and not what in the frame.

Scooter “I DON’T CONSIDER MYSELF A STREET ARTIST… MY PAINTINGS HAVE LAYERS AND LAYERS OF WORK… USUALLY STREET ART IS VERY HURRIED AND QUICK… I WORK ON PAINTINGS FOR MONTHS AND MONTHS AND SOMETIMES YEARS! I LOVE STREET ART, THOUGH, AND CAREFUL OBSERVATION WOULD FIND SOME WHEAT PASTES IN NYC THAT ARE PURE ME. ”

Accidental B. How do you feel about the art a happening around you in NYC? Is there any other place in the world you would like to spend time doing art for inspiration?

Scooter ” THE ART WORLD HERE IN NYC IS ALIVE AGAIN. ALL MY FRIENDS ARE ARTIST OR PEOPLE WHO LOVE ART AND ARE VERY PRODUCTIVE. WE DO LOTS OF COLLABORATIONS. I HANG OUT WITH PHOTOGRAPHERS AND SINGERS AND WRITERS AND DANCERS GARBAGE MEN AND COMPUTER GEEKS AND CLUB KIDS. I HAVE AN ART STUDIO ON BROADWAY AND CANAL AND HAVE VISITORS ALMOST EVERY DAY. I REALLY DON’T BELIEVE THERE IS ANY OTHER PLACE IN THE WORLD THAT I COULD DO WHAT I DO. I HAVE BEEN PAINTING FOR MANY YEARS, BUT, MY CAREER DID NOT TAKE OFF UNTIL I MOVED HERE FROM SAN FRANCISCO. I LOVE SAN FRANCISCO THERE IS NOT OTHER MAGICAL PLACE LIKE IT IN THE WORLD. “

SCOOTER LAFORGE ENTERPRISES’s; Scooter for President

I think comparing artist is for the birds but I can’t help think of the late, great Keith Haring when I gawk at Scooter Laforges art work. I reckon that he may be the Keith Harring of the modern world. Scooter  is an undeniable force and his popularity is growing exponentially.

Provokes emotion and stirs up your comfortable little world

He has conquered both coasts and now seeps into the middle of america as well. How would Kentucky handle Mr La Forge? My first thought would be that they would shit themselves then go running for the hills. If they stop kissing their cousin for a minute they might find themselves unexpectedly turned on by, Popey with a hard on. BLASPEMY! Scooters work is for the aquired taste and an advanced palate. Those that have the ability to digest unconventional art will feast on his paintings and drench themselves in his clothing. To me, Scooters art slaps me in the face and takes me out of my comfort zone. It makes me ask myself what is art ( an on going debate in my head for decades). It is clear, Scooter doesn’t do art but is ART.

ALL EYES ON SCOOTER!

CLOTHING:

SCOOTER DOESN’T DO ART, HE IS ART

PAINTINGS:
