Gay Couple Raises Doll as their Son

by Accidental Bear

I would have been shocked by this story if I hadn’t already been exposed to such freakish behavior in the past. About a year ago I was house sitting and snooping through there collection of saved Tivo programs ( hoping to find  a taped Love Boat, Threes Company or something as riveting) . I don’t remember the title of program but I remember it was a British show , show casing women who had spent thousands of dollars on “realistic” baby dolls that they treated as their own offspring, taking them grocery shopping. The show had a more deviant last half where men had relationship with real life size dolls and demanding the respect from friends and family as if their mound of plastic and whatever else was a consensual part of the relationship. So this article was less of a punch to the gut at the same time causing me some gay shame. Is there a name for being afraid of the word doll? ( besides crazy)

Gay Couple Raises Doll as Son

Digby in Cairo x390 (The Daily) |

For 20 years, a gay couple from New York has cared for their son Digby without having to worry he’ll grow out of his clothes or one day venture out into the world on his own.

Mark Kirby and A.J. Sapolnick bought Digby, a doll they found in a Paris flea market, 20 years ago, and the three have been inseparable since. Kirby and Sapolnick take their son everywhere, from Central Park to Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

“Our intention was to create a family,” Kirby said to The Daily. “And Digby was going to be part of our family.”

Though the couple acknowledge their family is unconventional, they don’t treat him like a doll — they don’t even like the word.

“He’s never been in a suitcase, Sapolnick says. “Because it wasn’t out intention to have a toy.”

Wonderfully Shaped Bikes, Vanhulsteijn

by Accidental Bear

In the rain I like to window shop and by that I mean surf the web. In the rain I like to ride my bike and by that I mean, shop for bikes on line. In the rain I feel creative, and by that I mean Wacky. Check out these wacky shaped bikes. I’ll take mine in orange. Thanks and you’re welcome.

Strong reactions can yield new businesses. Take Holland’ Vanhulsteijn. Founded seven  years ago as a design studio with the focus on interior design, the firm is now outputting this wonderfully shaped bike. “Herman van Hulsteijn built 2 years ago a prototype of this bike for personal use.” With more and more people asking for their own, Vanhulsteijn is now kicking them out for production. Check those curves. Big fan of the Grand Prix tires as well. Available as a two or three-speed.

Dave Grohl Stands his ground on topic of Glee ( me swoons)

by Accidental Bear

Besides worshipping the ground Dave Grohl walks on I 100% agree with his point of view in this article. Shows like Glee are extended day time talk shows. Good for those trying to create a come back or an artist that is “it” right now with a new record out. Seems like the same topic of a band “selling out”, but in 2011 we have to rename it. Got any ideas?

Dave Grohl slams ‘Glee’ creator

Foo Fighters star Dave Grohl has lashed out at “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy for assuming all musicians are desperate to feature on the hit show.

The rocker isn’t a fan of the high school singing and dancing program and insists he wouldn’t want to follow in the footsteps of Madonna and Britney Spears, who have had their songs used in the series.

And Grohl is fed up with Murphy slamming stars if they decide to not sign up to “Glee.”

He tells the Hollywood Reporter, “You shouldn’t have to do f**king ‘Glee.’ And then the guy who created ‘Glee’ is so offended that we’re not, like, begging to be on his f**king show… I watched 10 minutes (of it). It’s not my thing.

“Slash was the first one. (Murphy) wanted to do Guns N’ Roses, and Slash is like, ‘I hate f**king musicals. It’s worse than Grease’. Then (Murphy’s) like, ‘Well, of course he’d say that. He’s a washed-up ol’ rock star. That’s what they f**king do’.

“And then Kings of Leon say, ‘No, we don’t want to be on your show’. And then he’s like, ‘Snotty little a**holes…’ And it’s just like, ‘Dude, maybe not everyone loves ‘Glee.’ Me included’.”
