I love all Things Taschen Touches (Books)

by Accidental Bear

It’s not to early to start making your 2011 Christmas list. Taschen has a way of making all subjects a visual orgasm. You may have seen one of the most popular books titled Big Penis Book. Perhaps looked at it from across the room with longing, coming hither fuck me eyes? This newest book on photographers is a must see. The thing about Taschen‘s books is that a lot of them are limited edition and then disappear. One day i will have them all (wicked evil laugh).

Curated points us at this photography tome from Taschen. “Photographers A-Z “Photographers A Z” Bookfunctions as a complete compendium of important photographers of the 20th-century. Streetwise Electronics and Pure Pop; Microfilm

by Accidental Bear

Marriage of minimal techno, synth-pop nostalgia and cinematic samples…

Microfilm was birthed in early 2006 in Chicago when the duo of Matthew Mercer and Matt Keppel aimed to create a perfect blend of streetwise electronics and pure pop. Within their first six months of existence, Microfilm had appeared on BBC’s premier Radio 1 network, remixed Ladytron, and written and recorded their debut album. Released on double CD in 2007,After Dark and its companion remix album Blueprints set the stage with a mix of stripped-down electrohouse and hook-laden pop songs. READ MORE

Listen Up People: Pianissimo Possibile (Beard Watch)

by Accidental Bear

Matthew Mercer has been releasing music under his own name since 2003, beginning with a pair of minimal/glitch techno 12″s on Forte and Neutonmusic, and then moving into digital-only self-released tracks which combine dancefloor function with headphone-listening details.

His newest solo output leaves the dancefloor largely behind and focuses on deconstructed piano recordings. Improvisations are recorded, disassembled, and put back together in a variety of patterns and forms.

Separate from his music production, Mercer also DJs regularly. His sets range from minimal techno to full-on pop music.”

He is also one half of the electro-pop group Microfilm and has been known to moonlight as part of Jumberlack & the Cobra.

Pianissimo Possibile

Based around piano improvisations, Pianissimo Possibile is the new full-length album by electronic producer Matthew Mercer. It eschews much of the dancefloor compatibility of his previous output and instead is an extended journey through introspective, instrumental soundtracks.

The video for “And The Sky Opened Up” was directed and filmed by Byrd McDonald.
