Nutrition Value Of Sperm
When people think of the word “sperm” the first thing that probably comes to mind is the word “men”, “sex” even “pregnancy” but does anyone ever think “nutrition”? Well sperm actually has nutritional value to it. Containing many different ingredients such as fructose sugar, water, ascorbic acid (a.k.a., vitamin C), citric acid, enzymes, 150 mg of protein, 11 mg of carbohydrates, 6 mg fat, phosphate and bicarbonate buffers (bases), 3 mg cholesterol, 7% US RDA potassium and 3% US RDA copper and zinc, semen is jam packed with more then just sperm. Usually a typical ejaculation will fill up about one teaspoon, of course the amounts will differ and are determined by a man’s age, the last time he ejaculated, and how long he has been aroused before ejaculation occurs. Sperm comes equipped with 5-7 calories per teaspoon of ejaculate with anywhere between 200- 500 million sperm in each teaspoon (www.columbia.edu). With all these ingredients in semen one would think that “swallowing” in oral sex would enhance a poor nutritional diet but unless a person were to drink gallons of semen a day a single gulp of semen will not help in lacking or poor nutrition. Not only can semen be good for ones health since it is contains vitamin C, but it contains as much vitamin C in a single serving as a full size orange. Semen is a natural body fluid produced solely by men and considered a “divine life giving fluid” by some religions such as the Ecclesia Gnostica Catholica who believe in the consumption of semen during mass. With all this knowledge on semen it is hard to look at this bodily fluid the same, it can give life, nutrition and to some, even spirituality. ~ www.medichatmd.com

Queer It Yourself: Tools For Survival June 4 – 24 | SOMArts SF CA
Inspired by the late 1960s utopian builders’ guide A Whole Earth Catalog, QIY: Queer It Yourself – Tools for Survival presents a forum for queer do-it-yourself culture and alternative world making.
QIY is envisioned as a laboratory for creating a sustainable queer culture and demonstrating the power of self and community organizing, re-creation, speculation, and transformation. As an antidote to anti-sociality theories of queerness (that suggest queerness can only be rendered as a negation of heteronormativity), Queer It Yourself invites artists to forge their own tools for confronting the everyday challenges of contemporary queer existence.
The exhibition presents artists’ workstations, participatory spaces, hands-on training sites, maps, artwork, ephemera, and user-friendly art that foreground immersive and interactive experiences. These works demonstrate how art can provide active and meaningful tools for surviving our contemporary lived world.
The curators have queered the index of the original “Whole Earth Catalog” and adapted its thoughtful and useful categories to reinvent our own catalog of queer tool-making and to frame this QIY space.
Land Use / Dig it (organic farming, community gardens, eco-projects, cruising sites, earthworks, recycling projects).

German Catholic Doctors Offer Homeopathic ‘Gay Treatment’
A Catholic doctors’ association in Germany believes it can cure the sexual orientation of gays and lesbians with sugar pills — though only at their request, the group says. But the homo-homeopathy has been harshly criticized by members of its target community.
Spiegel Online has the story:
A Catholic doctors’ association in Germany believes it can cure the sexual orientation of gays and lesbians with sugar pills — though only at their request, the group says. But the homo-homeopathy has been harshly criticized by members of its target community.
The Lesbian and Gay Federation in Germany (LSVD) is outraged. Following news reported this week by the online magazine Telepolis that the Union of Catholic Physicians (UCP) has been offering homeopathic “Therapy Options for Homosexuality” on their website, the advocacy organization called the suggestion an “insult,” and an “impertinence” that showed “a lack of respect for homosexuals and bisexuals.”
The religious association, which calls itself the “voice of the Catholic medical community,” writes on its website that while “homosexuality is not an illness,” a host of treatments are available to keep such “inclinations” at bay. Possibilities include “constitutional treatments with homeopathic tools … such as homeopathic dilutions like Platinum,” “psychotherapy,” and “religious counseling.” Among homeopathy’s controversial treatments are the prescription of “Globuli,” tiny pills that consisting mostly of sugar.

Space Needle Won’t Fly Gay Pride Flag again
Why is it important that ‘our’ gay flag flies on the Space Needle?
After the Space Needle made waves by flying a gay pride flag for the first time last year, it has announced the rainbow flag will not make a reappearance for this month’s gay-pride festivities.
“(We) are not flying the flag this year,” Space Needle spokeswoman Mary Bacarella said in a statement Friday.
“We don’t make a habit of flying flags on top of the Space Needle and we make an effort not to fly any flags on a recurring basis,” she said.
Bacarella said the Space Needle is giving the flag to the group, Seattle Out & Proud, which will be marching with it this year. via blog.seattlepi.com
Chicago Cubs to produce “It Gets Better” video
This Its Gets Better business is becoming a healthy trend. Keep it up!
CHICAGO — The Chicago Cubs will produce an “It Gets Better” video, which takes a stand against anti-gay bullying and homophobia. The project has been in the works for more than a week and is set to be filmed after the team returns to Wrigley Field from its current 10-game road trip.
The Cubs will be the second professional sports team to participate in the “It Gets Better” campaign following the San Francisco Giants who released their video earlier this week.
“The Cubs applaud the Giants for their stand against anti-LGBT bullying. Bullying of anyone for any reason is unacceptable,” said Laura Ricketts, Cubs owner and board member. “We are proud to join the Giants in taking a stand against bullying and encourage other professional sports organizations to do the same.” www.windycitymediagroup.com

“Born This Way” Flash Mob at L.A. City Hall: Let’s Dance
Los Angeles held its first annual LGBT Heritage Month event Friday, and in addition to speeches from Wanda Sykes, the Reverend Troy Perry, and Chad Griffin of the American Foundation for Equal Rights, a surprise performance of “Born This Way” took place on the south lawn of City Hall.
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa gave a speech (see below) in which he quoted the lyrics to Lady Gaga’s hit song. Then two dancers jumped onto the stage — one in a suit — before a group of about 15 people began dancing in front of the stage.
In honor of Friday’s event, the city council passed numerous resolutions in support of state and national pro-gay laws:
• Senate Joint Resolution No. 2: Urges the President, Congress, and Secretary of Defense policy requiring service members discharged under “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” to repay the costs of their military education and training
• Federal legislative action to grant Joseph Sekajugo Bokombe, a gay man from Uganda, a visa extension and possible permanent residency so that he not be sent back to Uganda where he faces the threat of violence because of his sexual orientation
• AB 887: Amends state law to specifically enumerate protections based on gender identification and gender expression protections
• SB 117: Prohibits state agencies from entering into a contract of $100,000 or more with businesses that discriminate based on sexual orientation in providing employee benefits
• SB 747: Requires state regulatory boards that license or certify health care personnel to mandate a continuing education course in LGBT cultural competency in heath care
• AB 9: Requires California schools to report to law enforcement instances of the bullying of students
• AB 620: Requires California Community Colleges, California State University and the University of California to train faculty and staff on LGBT issues, provide services to address LGBT student needs, and add sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression to campus anti-discrimination policies
• SB 416: Adds questions regarding sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, domestic partnership status, and gender of a spouse to voluntary demographic information collected in California statewide surveys
• SB 182: Adds gender identity and sexual orientation questions to the state’s annual Judicial Applicant Data Report for judicial applicants, judicial appointees and nominees, and justices and judges
• SB 48 (FAIR Act): Adds the LGBT community to the list of under-represented groups for inclusion in textbooks and other school instructional materials
