Men Arrested, Released in Portland Hate Crime
Two men were arrested in connection with an antigay attack in Portland, Ore., early Saturday morning, then released. Shawn Siefke (top right) and Christian Sanchez-Villavencio (bottom right) asked a man for directions at about 3 a.m. on Saturday. They allegedly began hurling antigay epithets at him before pushing him to the ground. Andrew Smith (left) came to the man’s aid and then found himself punched and eventually kicked in the head. Siefke and Sanchez-Villavencio left the scene only to inadvertently return when police arrived — they were both arrested.

Seen above, Jim Darling’s Tank installation makes up a small portion of Inside Out, an exhibition featuring new work by Jim and his partner Tina. Together, the artists explore the idea of home and the various places people choose to live. Jim focuses on semi-sculptural work, while Tina excels at delicate water color and ink works. Both peer into the lives of others… but in a way that is neither invasive or off-putting. Their show remains on view through July 23, 2011.

Palm Springs No. 1 in California in Gay couple Cohabitation
Rancho Mirage, Cathedral City, Desert Hot Springs rank the highest for gay couples in search of the perfect utopia to spend their golden years. Perhaps it’s because cold weather makes their joints achey but statistics show the gay couple are heading to the desert. -AB
Palm Springs has the highest concentration of same-sex couples living together in California, new findings from the 2010 Census show.
With about 115 same-sex couples for every 1,000 households, Palm Springs ranks ahead of other notably gay-friendly cities like San Francisco and West Hollywood, according to an analysis of census data by the Williams Institute on Sexual Orientation Law, based at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Several other Coachella Valley cities ranked at the top of the list, including Rancho Mirage at No. 4, Cathedral City at No. 5 and Desert Hot Springs at No. 10.

They say thing like, “Hi, I’m a junkie whore” or “Hi, I want to look like a just crawled out of bed but I spent 2 hours getting ready.” Adam Kimmels’s Spring/Summer 2012 looks tells me that the wearer might be a surfer boy who was told by his girlfriend that he need to clean up a bit, but holds on to dark colors as to accommodate spills. Accidental Bear Exchanges Words with the Two Jasperjohns | Video Q&A
Just in time for the hugely anticipated (by me) 3rd webisode “White Pants: Three” by The Two Jasperjohns, I don’t sit down with,
but exchange words via the world wide web with Jim Noonan and Vinny Lopez. This starts off what we here at Accidental Bear will be calling Interviews on a Budget Series. We are poor but proud, proud but penniless. Coming across The Two Jasperjohns has given my summer meaning and feeds my void now that I have finally burnt out on Strangers with Candy for the 5th year in a row on loop-repeat; The Two Jasperjohns fill this space well with some added scruff. I am glad to catch these men before they get on a rocket to the top and the start living the good life (cocaine, strippers and beer). They filmed interview questions during their wrap party for finishing White Pants: Three. Champagne, Beards and good company equals good times.
In a world where slapping a label on yourself in hopes to find your place within our community is common, these guys are able to have fun playing with stereotypes and keep things light, leaving pretension at the door. Thanks for playing men!
