FBI Arrests Tulsa Man in ‘fake beard’ Bank Robberies
A Tulsa man was arrested Friday in connection to bank robberies that include at least four in Oklahoma, two in Arkansas and one in Joplin, Mo. – several of which were done wearing a fake beard, according to official reports. FBI agents arrested Jason Andrew Day, 39, at his home in the 1400 block of East 38th Street on Friday evening, jail records show. According to his arrest report, Day told booking deputies he is a student at the University of Tulsa. Day was wanted for a July 22 attempted robbery and an Aug. 23 armed robbery in Fort Smith. There’s not a woman in Philly who would rock a burka just to make a fashion statement. But when it comes to Muslim-inspired menswear, well, that’s another story. Regardless of their religious affiliations, certain Philadelphia men, mainly African-Americans, have adopted the style of wearing long, old-world-style beards, sometimes pairing them with calf-length trousers and long shirts – all looks inspired by traditional Muslim attire. For many, this convergence of hip-hop with Islamic style is purely a fashion statement and has nothing to do with whether a guy worships in a church or mosque.
