Teddy Boy Autumn/Winter 2011 Looks

by Accidental Bear

New interpretation on the styles of past with a modern feel.

via Selectism
Showcased at PROJECT 10 in Las Vegas, the Teddy Boy collection for Autumn 2011 is a new twist on the classics. “The collection is top-heavy focusing on basics with a twist. Button-ups are all cotton with the top button moved from the center to the side hidden under the collar…” You’ll also find fair use of popular fabrics including wax cottons, plaids, and tweed suits. Again, a new interpretation on the styles of past with a modern feel.

“Pattern Recognition” Neckties for Spring 2011

by Accidental Bear

When I grow up, I’m going to wear ties.

C. Chauchat "Pattern Recognition" Neckties for Spring 2011

C. Chauchat delivers looks from their Spring 2011 collection of double-layer neckties that look to bring new life to the classic necktie form by pulling inspiration from “60’s Op Art, and Magic Eye illusions.” ”C. Chauchat, or ‘hot cat’ in French, is a line of men’s accessories that banishes flatness in favor of dimension and character… A curved back seam streamlines fabric bulk to make the tie fall more elegantly…” Worth a look by all guys who are in need of new neckwear.

More looks after the click.

Apparel with hip-hop roots isn’t just about bold logos and graffiti

The Scifen Company Spring 2011

selectism - The Scifen Company Spring 2011

Apparel with hip-hop roots isn’t just about bold logos and graffiti based graphics. Barmak Badaei’s second season of the new look Scifen Company exhibits a paired down aesthetic with bold attention to fabric. Badaei’s take on classics, if you will, has a brash edge to it for sure, but isn’t without strong detailing and obvious considerations for the minutiae of manufacture.

We caught Scifen’s French Terry Crew in Vegas. We follow with a few highlights from the Spring collection. Coats above, more after the jump.

Enough said.

Jääkarhu Pillow

Best. Expressions. Ever. These two polar pals must be looking at something quite stunning—the goings-ons of your living room, perhaps? We’re loving the darling duo from Marimekko who are keeping it cool on a plush cotton pillow.

Imagine, a Gay-centric Gay-borhood in the Desert

by Accidental Bear

First thought Burning man, second thought desert porn shoots, third thought, TOTALLY RAD! I am going to follow this super cities planning and jump on board! I’m far from retiring, but not I’m continuously told to be a better planner.

Gay Super City Planned for Calif. Desert

By Advocate.com Editors

BOOM X390 | ADVOCATE.COM

Almost a dozen architecture firms have created designs for a proposed gay-centric, pedestrian-friendly community not far from Palm Springs, Calif.

Called Boom, the community would house 300 residences and eight neighborhoods in a space of 100 acres. While originally conceived by a Los Angeles developer as a gay-centered community, Boom would be open to anyone. Aside from homes, amenities include an entertainment center and a “rooftop mist disco.”

Located in Rancho Mirage, Boom has not yet started to wend its way through the city approval process, but its developer hopes to break ground next year and finish construction in late 2014. The project’s first phase would cost about $250 million to develop.
