Burberry Prorsum Spring/Summer 2012 Men’s Collection

by Accidental Bear
Burberry for me is a taste  I acquired as I have aged gracefully (shush), kind of like brussels sprouts. I wouldn’t touch them and had a disdained dislike for them when I was younger, but now I really enjoy quality, organically grown brussels sprouts and appreciate their distinct flavor, much like the collection of Burberry. AB

Taking a distinct 60s direction in the design approach, the collection features lots of oversized work wear trench coats, oversized double breasted heritage trench coats, fishtail and storm parkas and a special range of knitwear. Patterns are not only placed on jackets and knitwear, but also on shirts and even the eye catching range of cork soled moccasins. Hand crafted natural wood toggles, weathered metal buttons and natural horn buttons make an appearance as well, only adding to the detailed range presented for next season. The color range is also very special, and is in line with the 60s look and inspiration. (via Selectism)

Summers Here, Raid Grandpas Closet

by Accidental Bear

Save yourself a lot of $$ and raid your grandfathers closet for some awesome patterned golfing pants and cut then down for your summer look. Shorts in the park so far this year are at an all time high and by that I mean short! “Hipsters” are cutting off their skin tight jeans mid-thigh and them rolling them up to right below their bum. I will be keeping my shorts at a respectable right above the knee length this summer. Thank you and you’re welcome.

Insight Room Service Shorts

This mid-length pair of shorts from Insight features a raw hem edge that remind us of those Dickies cut-offs we made during our youth (shit, we still do it). But with the Insight pair, the pattern is more appropriate for wooing in your better half (or a new one). Would love to see Mourihno rocking these. Need Supply has them. Airy.

The Short Sleeved Shirt is Still a Polarizing Piece

by Accidental Bear

I have trouble with shirts with collars in general. I have a serious complex about looking like a preppy, some sort of mid-life crisis of sorts. Anytime I  have a button on and  look in the mirror, I see preppy, even if my shirt were to have skull and cross bone buttons. Sounds like a personal problem , huh? But I find my way around this if the shirt is fitted well or too small. I’ll go for a tad to small over baggy any day. Most shirts I find while thrifting are tiny, so I usually don’t have a choice. I am tragically hip.

The short sleeved shirt is still a polarizing piece. Some hate it, some love it. Us? We’re in between. Like all things menswear, it’s the way you do it that defines whether it’ll look good or not. It’s fair to say that as long as you steer clear of an awkward and puffy sleeve, you should be fine. (Opening Ceremony)

Lee 101 Logger Selvage Denim

by Accidental Bear

It is really close to impossible to keep up with what to do or not do when it comes to denim. For example, I thought you were not suppose to be caught dead in Lee jeans. Am I wrong? Apparently so. I am a true Levis man and basically have 2 denim rules to live by, NEVER acid wash or pleats.

Like all things in menswear, washed denim never disappeared, it just stepped out of the limelight for a bit. We remember attempting to bring them back under the spotlight a few times but we usually get comments like ‘looks terrible’, ‘dad jeans’, ‘Obama wears these’. But this is shaping up to be the year that folks come round to the idea of washed denim. All we’ve gotta say is ‘what took you so long?’ (Crooked Tongues)

Smart looks. Won’t you be my neighbor

by Accidental Bear

I see myself cruising into old age ( next month) and choosing “smarter” clothing. For me dressing up is tucking my t-shirt into my jeans. Maybe I will adopt some looks from Soulland Schmidt and start my new grown up life. I also think I could find similar looks at Thrift Town in the Mission. I would just have to get use to the smell of moth balls following me around.

We’re packed to the gills with timeless classics today, this time it’s something from Soulland. As we’ve often stated, we like the staples and all, but anyone saying that you should throw out anything in a pattern that isn’t stripes or checks should throw themselves from a bridge. No hyperbole. Kangol like I’ve never seen it; Spring/Summer 2011 Lookbook

by Accidental Bear

There was a hot minute in the 1990s I had a black fuzzy kangol hat on my head. The cool kids were doing it, and I followed. I had know idea Kangol existed outside of hats. I am surprising pleased.

PRPS – Champions in the denim market

by Accidental Bear

HOLY MACARONI! Yes from head to toe.

PRPS Spring/Summer 2011

via http://www.selectism.com/

PRPS – one of the champions in the denim market – continue to refine their outerwear. Season to season, they continue to gain strength and position themselves father away from the singular denim game. Chambray and worked out tops, including a waist length leather jacket, offer contemporary and casual looks that are pretty accessible to most.

More looks after the click.

SOMETHING HAIRY

by Accidental Bear

I am here to be a myth buster! There is indeed an entire webside dedicated to the love and appreciation on hairy backs. Well, if they turn you on or they’re your fetish , or perhaps you just need a fuzzy place to lay your head, I found the place for you

http://hairybackedman.blogspot.com/

“Confessions of a Hairy Backed Man”

‘Fur Back’ T-Shirts Just in Time for Spring

Are you a furback and proud of it? Why not advertise your hyper-hirsute status with one of these great new T-shirts? The actual text of the shirt reads “Fur is Back” but the “is” is cleverly minimized so that the shirt reads “FUR BACK” from a distance — thumbs up for putting the words on the back of the shirt, too.

Comes in a wide rainbow of colors and in all sizes, can be ordered online fromwww.bearnation.us.

Of course, if you really want to broadcast that you’re a furback, you take your T-shirt off, but this is the next best thing if you’re cold or shy.

(Personally, I kind of love the term “furback” — in fact, it might be my favorite term for my people.) Posted by HairyBackedMan

On My Watch: HOMOPUNK

by Accidental Bear

*** ADULT CONTENT***

(This will call on all the pervs and keep the kids out)

HOMOPUNK, where were you when I was in high school. In the late 80’s I walked the street head hung long, bleached blonde bangs colored with black sharpie, shredded jeans, combat boots and punk rock stickered leather coat. HOMOPUNK would have lifted my head up ( most likely to say Fuck YOU! Ahhh, sweet youth)
