Taishi Nobukuni Autumn/Winter 2011 Collection

by Accidental Bear

Grandpa can I borrow your clothes? You are hip now by the way.

Taishi Nobukuni Autumn/Winter 2011 Collection

The Relativity points us in the direction of this excellent Autumn/Winter 2011 collection from Japanese designe, Taishi Nobukuni. The former St Martins student spent time working under British tailor Charlie Allen and has used these formal skills to create a traditional but highly individual collection. Influences seem to be plucked from all over, Dandy, country gent, even a little 70s pimp for good measure and while some pieces push the boundaries there are enough wearable looks to deem this an accessible collection. Prps Goods & Co. Fall/Winter 2011 Lookbook: Glorious & Manly from Head to Toe

by Accidental Bear

Prps Goods & Co. Fall/Winter 2011 Lookbook

Scanning through men’s fashion blog today you might end up being converted to having a fetish for shaggy homeless men. The male models in a large percent of campaigns for Fall/ Winter 2012 are beastly handsome with manes of luscious hair and larger beards with clothes to match. I’m not complaining, just observing. New York’s Prps is offering up the best of the best in its first-ever Prps Goods & Co. collection for the fall.

VIDEO| Etsy asks New Yorkers, “Who Made Your Clothes and Do you Care?”

by Accidental Bear

This is a good way to deflate people’s rage that we are all hoity-toity up in here. Half the time I have no idea where, what or who is draped on my skin. Etsy asks some real New Yorkers the simple question, ” Where do your clothes come from and do you care? ” I kind of love this.

Project Runway All Stars Line-up, Minus Heidi Klum & Seal’s Big Penis References

by Accidental Bear

Today’s news feed has been unusually bloody, negative and infuriating. To lighten it up a tad I will either cover you with rainbow sprinkles or play a game we gays like, Lets talk Project Runway!! The All-star line-up has spilled over into my Facebook feed and it is my civil duty to pass it on, to you, the little people. Here is a rundown of who will be participating in this fashion extravaganza. One huge FYI, this all-star season will have NO Heidi Klum or Seal’s big penis references.  Isaac Mizrahi will be one of the judges, Ick. AB

The contestants are:

  • Austin Scarlett, the elaborately coiffed dandy who, during Season One, made an evening gown out of cornhusks.
  • Kara Janx, from Season Two, known for her signature color-blocked wrap dress.
  • Elisa Jimenez from Season Three, who marked her clothes with spit.
  • Rami Kashou, from Season Four, the master of draping who lost to Christian Siriano.
  • Sweet P, the tattooed retro-inspired spitfire from Season Four.
  • Jerell Scott from Season Five, a huge fan of bling.
  • Kenley Collins, the controversial alleged cat-thrower from Season Five, known for her vintage-y dresses.
  • Gordana Gehlhausen of Season Six, whom you may remember as being very very nice.
  • Anthony Williams from Season Seven, known for being hilarious and for using boid colors.
  • Mila Hermanovski, the one from Season Seven who liked everything to be in black and white.
  • April Johnston from Season Eight, the second-youngest contestant ever on the show.
  • Michael Costello from Season Eight, the one who everyone was mean to.
  • And last, but not least: Mondo Guerra, who tapdanced his way into our hearts with crazy mismatched patterns, bright colors and winning spirit.

As a reminder: Heidi Klum won’t be on this show: The part of Heidi Klum will be played by supermodel Angela Lindvall. Isaac Mizrahi and Georgina Chapman will be the judges.

by Accidental Bear

Isaia Autumn/Winter 2011 Looks

Hold on and let me grab my bucket list. Nope, fly fishing in a fine tailored suit isn’t on there, but I am a sucker for theatrics. That is exactly what Italy’s Isaia collection is, well fitted, bum grabbing clothes that will turn a $20- whore from West Hollywood into a gentlemen. Fly fishing poles not included

Naked & Famous Glow in the Dark Selvedge Denim Jeans

by Accidental Bear

These jeans will be desired by some and to ween down that grouping more is their price of $240. I was working retail back in the peak of raver day’s and can remember these little, brightly colored kids, sucking of pacifiers and glow sticks usually had mommy and daddy’s gold card in their back pocket. I call that roughing it, not! So, these pants will still be worn by those trying to get away with their down and out-starving-artist-wannabe-look. Money is nothing to be ashamed of, I just don’t have any.

GlowintheDark.jpg

Sartorially-minded ravers everywhere rejoice: your uniform for this fall has been decided. Naked & Famous recently dropped their unique Japanese selvedge creation on select Barneys New York and Barneys CO-OP locations.

See, the secret is in the phosphorescent coating which, when exposed to natural or artificial light (read: wearing them all day) absorbs and charges that light and then BAM! You step into your favorite lounge or dive bar looking like a walking glow stick. But, during work hours, these go-to worthy pair of straight leg 13.5 oz. raw indigo denims will keep you the incognito Clark Kent of clubland: safe until the sun sets…

Fashion Industry Salivates Over Creepy Photos Of 10-Year-Old French Girl

by Accidental Bear

This photo you are looking at has caused ripples in the fashion world and has brought attention to the term “implied nudity.” Model Thylane Loubry Blondeau is 10 yrs old in the photograph.

Freedom of choice, freedom of expression all plays a part in the “career” of this 10 years old super model Thylane Loubry Blondeau. She is a stunning little girl, but who is making her decisions for her. The interpretations of her “provocative” photo’s are in the eyes of the beholder. Whereas, one may say a topless 10 year old girl is vulgar and crosses the line, another may say art. Does anybody have to be wrong? What are your thoughts?

jezebel.com  says

The child model’s parents are Patrick Blondeau, a former soccer player, and Véronika Loubry, who used to present a celebrity news show on French television and now designs a mother-daughter clothing line. Thylane has graced the cover of VogueEnfants, starred in ad campaigns for the children’s lines of major brands, and regularly works with top fashion photographers including Dani Brubaker. She started early: in October, 2005, at the age of 4, Thylane walked in Jean-Paul Gaultier‘s spring show. She came to my attention earlier this year, when she was one of the models featured in a Vogue Paris — that’s regular, grown-up Vogue, not kiddie Vogue— editorial that took fashion’s fetishistic, often exploitative relationship with extreme youth as its subject. Now there’s a “Fuck Yeah” Tumblr devoted to her every move.

Levi’s Made & Crafted

by Accidental Bear

Levi does the body good. Good to the last drop

made crafted 01 selectism Selectism Q&A | Levis Made & Crafted
Levi’s Made & Crafted was founded on a simple premise – “Modern items based on the principles of good design.” In that mission, the Levi’s DNA forms a backbone for forward thinking approaches to classic garments and accessories, all of which privileges the right fabrics and the correct manufacturing. For Autumn 2011 the line, now in its second full season, has expanded to include knits, shirting, and a special capsule collection of “Made in the USA” denim. The looks are contemporary and fresh, but with a decidedly familiar feel; the balance of new and old in the pieces struck admirably. We caught up with the Amsterdam based Made & Crafted design team to chat about the Autumn 2011 collection and to see what the future holds for the line. Our discussion, and some fine garments, after the jump. (Selectism)

What Your Beard Says About You

by Accidental Bear

Sometimes my beard says, homeless hottie or I just ate a glazed doughnut. AB

Beards: Rugged? Trendy? Or Unreliable?

FOUR years ago, I grew the first full beard of my adult life on a whim. I was 41, and it was neither a fashion statement nor a midlife crisis, but it came at a fortuitous time: the style world just happened to be entering the Postmillennial He-Man Beard Epoch.

It was the dawn of an era, when dewy actors like Ryan Gosling and Jake Gyllenhaal started showing up on red carpets sporting cheek-fringe that seemed to boast, “My cover-boy looks can shine even through this tangle”; when it became obligatory to show up at Brooklyn warehouse parties with the shaggy jowls of an 1890s beaver trapper; when the Unabomber chin mane became unexpectedly chic on fashion runways.

There is Hipster & Then There is Awkward Clothing: Spring/Summer 2012 in-house collection from the Opening Ceremony

by Accidental Bear

I will do Opening Ceremony  the favor of holding off judgment until I see the whole collection, as they say they are holding back from showing the full collection yet. The missing pieces will have to fight an uphill battle in my mind to help out what I see so far. Awkward, very awkward.

Men’s Clothing 2011-2012: Spring-Summer Fashion 2012 Collection –Clothing Spring-Summer Fashion Trends 2012 For Men: Now in: some first looks at the Spring/Summer 2012 in-house collection from the Opening Ceremony line.

The collection is vast and we’ll do our best to show as much as we can, but we’re holding back on some looks for later. For now, we preview a good chunk of the collection. Highlight colors work throughout the collection. The knit-top above is a great casual garment for the season. Much more to be seen in our gallery.

“Composed of eclectic, easy-to-wear pieces in clean silhouettes, the men’s collection features an extensive palette of vivid primary colors –  electric greens, yellows, blues, and reds…”
