Eastland 1955 Spring/Summer 2012 Footwear: Patience Needed

by Accidental Bear

I have a hard time thinking about next week, but I am asking you to please cash in your patience chips, because these are worth the wait. The wait also gives you time to fill up your piggy bank. “Existing between their Made In Maine collection and their mainline shoes, Eastland 1955 delivers beautiful shoes with a more digestible price tag.  All of the shoes feature moccasin construction and the high-end materials (think Vibram soles, rawhide leather, etc.) Made In Maine is known for.” Get these goods at WATM

God Father Nathan Clark, Creator of the Clarks Desert Boot, Passes Away

by Accidental Bear

Nathan Clark, Creator of the Clarks Desert Boot Has Died

A slight delay on this one. Mr Clark passed back in June.

“Sad news in the world of men’s footwear. Nathan Clark, creator of the iconic Clarks Desert Boot has died at the age of 94. We pull from the Telegraph UK obit: “Clark, a great-grandson of James Clark, who co-founded the Quaker footwear company in 1825, was serving in Burma during the Second World War when he noticed some servicemen wearing rough suede boots with crepe soles, of a type made by local tradesmen in Cairo’s Old Bazaar for British officers of the Eighth Army…After the war Clark returned to the family firm and, after further work on the design, took some pairs of Desert Boots to the 1949 Chicago Shoe Fair, where they were an instant hit.” (bltn)”

Gimme Clarks or Give Me Crocs (Death)

by Accidental Bear

Who told Clarks that I demanded comfortable, cute, elf shoes? Thanks

Clarks Desert Rain Shoes

Clarks Desert Rain Shoes

“This walking cousin of the Desert Boot gives the moc an interesting and clean re-look. The Desert Rain features a suede upper and a crepe sole and  features almost nothing extraordinary outside of the shape of the silhouette. Oi Polloi has them.” Selectism

Closed Autumn/Winter 2011 Footwear Preview

Closed Autumn/Winter 2011 Footwear Preview

To be honest we have not been paying too much attention to Closed these last couple of years. While we have always appreciated their denim and especially cotton pants program, the brand somehow slipped our mind. A while ago we ended up walking into their booth at a fashion tradeshow and checked out their Autumn/Winter 2011 Collection.

Mark McNairy for Bass Weejuns for Spring/Summer 2011

by Accidental Bear

I have flirted with these shoes for the last year on men on the metro here in SF. I have flashbacks of junior high because every school year we would get a new pair of Dock Siders to ONLY to be worn to school and “dress up” days; Picture day for example. I again find myself attracted to them. I am surprised though to see them coming out again for summer. The way fashion moves, won’t they be “out” by then? ~AB

END offers a wide assortment of MM’s for Bass Weejun shoes just in time for Spring/Summer 2011. The leather mocassins continue to rule the roost, as they say. The collaborative effort between NY’s modern day shoe wizard and G.H. Bass looks to bring well-priced models that look and feel great. Eddie Rabbit would recommend avoid wearing them on a “Rainy Nights” (watch for aggressive lightning). Via Selectism

Furni Black “Rockassins” Comfort Over Style

by Accidental Bear

Help! I really am interested in these. It may be a case of giving in to comfort over fashion (although these are quite cute in a probably wouldn’t leave the house in them way, but I wear them all the time at home). Shush, it’s old age.

Furni Black “Rockassins”
On May 9, 2011 Furni will release the second round of their “Rockassin.”

Here’s what the French Canadian blokes have to say, “It’s time to “rock the moc”. We’ve teamed up with a family owned business with almost 40 years of experience making snowshoes, moccasins and other Indian handcrafts here in Canada to offer you these beauties. These crepe soled ankle high moccasins are made from supple “black”leather. Each pair will be skillfully crafted by hand to order in small batches less than 250kms from our Montreal workshop.”

Converse for ACE Hotel; On the Money!

by Accidental Bear

Testing my super hero powers, I squeezed my eyes super shut, chanted some jibber jabber and tried to transpot these Converse into my closet so I could sport these lookers today. Sad to say, all I found was soiled laundry  and muddy hiking boots. Until I fine tune my powers, I guess I’ll do old fashion mail order.

Converse for ACE Hotel Chuck Taylor All Star Bosey Black/Blue

ACE works another pair of Cons for their hotel shops. Now in blue/black, the All Star Bosey is back… “Inspired by shoes from the Converse archive, they feel like a sneaker, but with rugged boot detailing and design cues taken from vintage wading boots and shoes Converse created for US Military basic training in the 1940s.” Rock star status on this one.
