Anderson Cooper Lose It on Live TV (CNN): Cute!

by Accidental Bear

Our Anderson Cooper loses himself to a number two joke and giggles like a school girl. I claimed him as ours, yes I did.

Before signing off each night, Anderson Cooper concludes AC360 with a segment called the “Ridiculist,” during which he comments on some trivial bit of news or pop culture. It’s a chance for Cooper to show off his less serious side, but he took things to a whole new level tonight when his own joke about French actor/plane urinator Gérard Depardieu caused him to giggle uncontrollably for a minute or so on live TV.

Lucille Ball Found Gay Rights “Perfectly All Right”

by Accidental Bear

Of Course she was on our side.

Lucille BallX390

There have been a multitude of tributes this week remembering comedy icon Lucille Ball who was born 100 years ago today, but a vintage interview with People magazine reveals the late entertainer was in favor of gay rights.

In a candid interview from 1980, Ball was asked her thoughts on a number of subjects, including gay rights. “It’s perfectly all right with me,” she replied. “Some of the most gifted people I’ve ever met or read about are homosexual. How can you knock it?”

As an entertainer, Ball obviously had many gay coworkers and friends. In 2001, one of her gay friends, Lee Tannen, wrote a book about his relationship with her. In it he recalls a mutual friend telling Ball how gay men adored her and how her curiosity was piqued when she heard about a gay bar in West Hollywood that played marathons of I Love Lucy episodes.

Pee-Wee Herman Tribute Art Exhibit In Los Angeles

by Accidental Bear

With his signature suit, voice and subversive family nature, Pee-Wee Herman has been a pop culture mainstay for decades. Even when the actor portraying him, Paul Reubens, had a bit of a run in with the law, fans still clamored for more Pee-Wee, rabidly watching his old specials, TV shows and movies. In 2010, Pee-Wee jumped back in the spotlight with a live Broadway show and he’s even got a new movie in the works with Judd Apatow. Like it or not, Pee-Wee Herman is an icon.(www.slashfilm.com)

by Accidental Bear

Anderson, I love-hate you. Lets see if your daytime talk show sways opinion to one side or the other.

(via www.afterelton.com)

If Anderson Cooper isn’t already one of the busiest journalists working in television today, he’s certainly about to be: on September 12, Cooper kicks off Anderson, his daytime talk show.

While sitting in the Beverly Hilton for the summer edition of the Television Critics Association press tour, however, Cooper repeatedly assured the assembled TV critics that he’s up to the task of maintaining a day job while still doing his duties at CNN in the evening and occasionally contributing to CBS’s 60 Minutes.

“You know, I manage my time really well,” said Cooper. “The schedule of this show, we’re taping it and shooting it in the same building where I work at CNN, in New York. I think it’s all very do-able. It’s going to be a lot of work, but I like working hard. I’ve been working hard for a long time now.”

Big Brother 13’s Jeff Schroeder Homophobic Rant Over Dumbledore

by Accidental Bear

Damn you Jeff. In order to make this rant I need to admit to watching Big Brother (Wow, I feel better, you know, first step to recovery and all, admitting). I have grown a super crush on Jeff Schroeder a contestant on reality tv show Big Brother. In my mind Jeff, my boyfriend and I have all held hands on a romantic picnic, oh and his fiancee Jordan is there, serving us egg salad sandwiches, pickles and Orange Crush Soda (My dream, not your!) So, to my surprise I now find out he’s a homophobic scumbag, allegedly. Jeff I still want to see naked Polaroids of you but you’re an ass (until proven otherwise).

ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com turned us on to the transcript of his rant.

Brady Kids Remember Sherwood Schwartz; Dispel Rumors About Gay Dad

by Accidental Bear

ROBERT REED SHERWOOD SCHWARTZ X390 (GETTY) | ADVOCATE.COM
Sherwood Schwartz, the creator of TV landmarks Gilligan’s Island and The Brady Bunch, who passed away early Tuesday in Los Angeles, is remembered fondly by those who knew him.

And despite rumors that Schwartz was conflicted over star Robert Reed’s homosexuality and refused to attend Reed’s 1992 funeral because he feared knowledge of the actor’s HIV-positive status would harm the franchise, two of the actors who played Bradys say that’s not true — Schwartz and Reed simply didn’t get along, but it had nothing to do with the fact that Reed was gay. by Accidental Bear

Hello friends! I’m a newborn TV show about two quirky brothers trying to quirk their way out of… I don’t know what I’m saying. It’s not my job to keep track of what this show is about, or who is in it or whether CAA has called today because not only have they haven’t but again it’s not my job to know any of this. I’M NOT A MARKETING DEPARTMENT! I’m just a TV show.

by Accidental Bear
BY REGGIE CAMERON (via Outmagazine)
Catching Up With Sandra BernhardThe hysterical singer, actress, and comedian chats with us about her new album, gay marriage, sex education, the Rapture, and — what else? — Oprah Winfrey.

Out: It was just announced that you’re headlining San Francisco Pride this year.
Sandra Bernhard: I’m always happy to be in San Francisco — it’s one of my favorite cities.

It’s where you taped I Love Being Me, Don’t You?
Bernhard: That’s right. We taped at the Castro Theatre a few months ago. San Francisco is so beautiful. The air is so clean. It’s a great classic American city that I get the privilege of going out to once or twice a year, and whatever I get to do — whomever I get to rub elbows with — it’s always a fun time for me.

By Advocate.com Editors

Golden Girls star Betty White reflected on the popularity of her show with gay audiences, saying that she believes the gay community “seems to like old ladies, they always have.”

The seven-time Emmy winner, currently starring on TV in Hot in Cleveland, spoke with WNYC host Leonard Lopate last week. He asked White whether she was surprised by the large gay following that the Golden Girls enjoyed and her popularity in the gay community.

“I think the gay community seems to like old ladies, they always have,” she said. “And when we were on live with Golden Girls on Saturday night they’d shut down the music, stop the dancing, watch the show, then turn the music and the dancing back on. We were very grateful and they’ve been dear friends.” READ MORE

Reichen, Shut the fuck up and just be pretty to look at. That strategy will take you further than filming yourself cracked out, sleep eyed, in bed praying to something that doesn’t exist, god.

This Is An 8-Minute Video Of Reichen Lehmkuhl Saying His Catholic Prayers Before Bed

via Queerty

“This gonna be the first time in the history of my life that I’m going to say goodnight … to anyone who’s watching.” Call up the Guinness folks stat, because that sounds like a record! And so begins an eight-minute video, recorded last night, of A-List: New York star Reichen Lehmkuhl showing off his nighttime routine, which includes saying his prayers (also a first! on video!) In addition to the people suffering in Japan, Reichen hopes god blesses all the contestants on American Idol, his own show, and his handlers. So: priorities. Now doesn’t it feel like you’re Rodiney, laying right next to him in bed?

4th Annual; 50 Power Gays You Should Know

by Accidental Bear

Yes, No, Yes, Yes No NO NO, Yes…….. no no YES YES no…

via Out Magazine

People come and people go, and this—our league table of America’s most influential gay men and women—reflects an awful lot of coming and going since it debuted in 2007.

Although Ellen DeGeneres finds herself back in pole position, many names have fallen or dropped out altogether (au revoir Rosie), while others have rocketed up (Rich Ross, Tom Ford) as their successes warrant. And then there are those we never saw coming, such as one Adam Lambert, whose attention-grabbing run on American Idol was largely interpreted as a referendum on tolerance.

Not everyone has to be a Lambert fan to appreciate the power of his position to influence our cultural and social attitudes for the better—one of several factors taken into consideration when compiling this list. The others are political clout, individual wealth, and a person’s media profile. And as always, new entries are marked with a star, with arrows indicating changes from last year’s rank.
