With his signature suit, voice and subversive family nature, Pee-Wee Herman has been a pop culture mainstay for decades. Even when the actor portraying him, Paul Reubens, had a bit of a run in with the law, fans still clamored for more Pee-Wee, rabidly watching his old specials, TV shows and movies. In 2010, Pee-Wee jumped back in the spotlight with a live Broadway show and he’s even got a new movie in the works with Judd Apatow. Like it or not, Pee-Wee Herman is an icon.(

It has Recently Been Brought to My Attention that, Tim Burton is an Artist

Tim Burton’s Blue Girl With Wine is on display with other works by the artist/filmmaker at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

So it turns out that Tim Burton, best known as a filmmaker whose vision ranges from quirky to, well, nightmarish, is also an artist, photographer and writer. Beginning next weekend, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art will show 700 of his drawings, paintings, photos, storyboards, puppets, costumes and uncategorizable ephemera, many of them from his own archives. Fans of his films will recognize the popular culture, fairy tale and gothic references in both the subject and the style of many of his creations.
