Pentagon suspends DADT in wake of court ruling The Pentagon has ordered a halt to all separations of gay troops under “don’t ask, don’t tell” and will begin accepting applications from prospective recruits who identify themselves as homosexuals. The moratorium issued Friday came after a ruling Wednesday by a federal appeals court in California ordering the Defense Department to immediately stop enforcing the law. The court said the law is unconstitutional because it treats gay Americans differently under the law.

I must admit, my first response to this news was my hope that these two gay solders had it in them , to open up a can of whoop ass on this anit-gay offenders and call in my flag holders reading, “See , See , don’t fuck with us fags.” Unfortunately the indecent did not end well, but with the attacked left with bruised ribs and facial fractures among other serious injuries.

There are a variety of gay books stores but what we are talking about here are the ones with out sticky movie booths in the back with convenient holes cute out the walls at waist height. What do we lose if all store front book stores close? Is it a decline in our community, a social place to meet, browse and cruise that doesn’t involved brain thumping terrible dance remixes of remixes of really bad songs and booze. I believe these staples in out community should be saved and kept alive. AB
While gay literature thrives in some quarters, another venerable gay bookstore closes; is it as simple as blaming Amazon?
Reacting to news in April that San Francisco’s 32-year-old A Different Light bookstore would be shuttering in the spring, writer Thomas Roche contemplated the reasons for the closure in the S.F. Appeal. Was it the switch to e-books and Amazon.com? The mainstreaming of LGBT literature? An overall exhaustion with gay themes? It’s all of the above, Roche surmised in the Appeal, which, ironically, is an online-only publication. Read More

Not every popular gay resort destination out there has a pulsing nightlife and a wide selection of gay-exclusive guest houses.Sedona, Arizona – about two hours north of Phoenix and two hours south of the Grand Canyon – has developed an ardent LGBT following in recent years as much for its spiritual, New Age-y energy as for its increasingly swish bistros, cushy contemporary inns, and high-end art galleries. It’s a classic couples getaway, oozing romance and packed with photo ops. And just across the Verde Valley, you can switch your car’s transmission into a low gear and climb high up a mountainside to the quirky former mining town of Jerome, where a funkier, rowdier retro-cool selection of still-more galleries, taverns, and restaurants await. But what truly draws weekenders – and even a fair share of week-longers – to Sedona and Jerome are the oddball red-rock formations soaring above a high-desert carpet of pinon, juniper, ponderosa pine, and cacti. If you don’t find this landscape genuinely stirring, you might want to have that contact lens prescription updated.

A gay couple in Hazard, Ky., was ejected from a public recreation facility, sparking outrage from local LGBT organizations and allies.
The two men, who are reported to be developmentally and intellectually disabled, went to the pool at the Pavilion in Hazard, a city-owned facility. They were turned away by a maintenance technician, who told them, “We own this place and can tell you to leave if we want to.”

A fun site to keep your eyes out for if you are single and wanting to mingle.
What is this site all about?
Good question. This is just a simple site where guys can tell the world a little bit about themselves. Show some pics, and maybe meet someone along the way. Who knows? There are a lot of hunk-sites out there, but GayBachelorBlog.com allows you to connect with them! All these guys are real, single, and willing to meet new people!
So, all these guys are real?
Without getting existentialist, yes.

When Toronto Pride rolls into town, the large attendance always reminds of us just how much the city supports its gay community. Sure, hate crimes still exist, the city recently threatened to pull Pride’s funding, and inappropriate f-words are flung from passing vehicles, but for the most part, Toronto is a safe and relatively easy place for gay men and women to live. Then Tourism Toronto, in partnership with Pride Toronto, launched its P90X parody Pride Pump 2000x, filled with the dainty, over-sexed, workout-obsessed (read: gay archstereotypes). We’re curious as to when an episode of Queer as Folk re-emerged as a gay factory standard. via www.torontolife.com

The series is tailor-made to echo the struggle of real-life oppressed groups
In X-Men: First Class, one young mutant-human tells another, “You have no idea what I’d give to feel … normal.” It’s a moment anyone who went to high school can empathize with, though it might mean something more to those who grew up gay—the adolescent experience when you discover, like the X-Men, something in your nature that makes you different from the majority of the people around you.
Parallels between the mutant experience and the gay experience pervade First Class, which opened on Friday to a weekend box-office haul of $56 million. The film, a prequel to the modern X-Men movie series, tells the franchise’s origin myth: Genetic mutations create a cadre of young superheros who use their powers for good—in this case, by attempting to defuse the Cuban Missile Crisis. The mutants are, unmistakably, a social minority. The film’s catchphrase is “mutant and proud,” a playful riff on post-Stonewall self-acceptance, and a “don’t ask, don’t tell” joke even finds its way into the dialogue.
In its own way, X-Men has become the most subversive modern comic-book franchise, translating for a country of summer moviegoers the entire theater of gay politics. The agenda was set with the original X-Men in 2000, directed by the openly gay Bryan Singer. “It’s not just a fantasy story,” Singer reportedly toldactor Ian McKellen, a fervent LGBT-rights activist, to lure him into a starring role as Magneto. “It’s a parable.” And indeed, it has been. In the first film, the superheroes are opposed by a U.S. senator who cries out, in a nod to Anita Bryant‘s “Save Our Children” campaign, “I think the American people deserve the right to decide whether they want their children … to be taught by mutants!” The follow-up, 2003’s X2, made its point more boldly, in a scene that so closely resembles a “coming out” it borders on camp—the mother asks her son, “Have you ever tried not being a mutant?” before she gives up entirely and says, “This is all my fault.” READ MORE

I sit here day dreaming of what I would have done with the $7,000 spent for this, quite frankly, drab, boring and uncreative sign warning people that GAYS in large numbers will be at Disney world for GAY DAY (add thunder and storm noises here). What are they afraid of: Gays using Mickey cut out as glory holes? Spiking the punch? Recruiting? FAB is unaware that there monstrosity of a sign was a beacon for the homosexual to, Come out, come out where ever you are. AB

The Florida Family Association spent $7,000 to fly a large banner “warning” Disney World attendees of the annual Gay Day celebration at the Magic Kingdom, WESH-TV reports.
“Thousands of homosexuals, lesbians and transgenders will converge on Central Florida the first week of June to celebrate their immoral lifestyles,” the group announced on its website in condemnation of Orlando Gay Days, which brings in millions of tourist dollars to the area each year. READ MORE
