the t-shirts…
TIMBER! t-shirts are hand-drawn and hand-screened in a garage in California. All shirts are made in the USA.
www.timberpreservationsociety.com
the beginning…
In early 2006, artist and six year screenprinter, Chad Eaton, drew a lumberjack line drawing and printed it on a few t-shirts for his own amusement. Friends began asking for them. Friends of friends began asking for them, and before he knew it, he was listing them online for sale. This became the perfect outlet for Chad’s drawings, and to Chad’s surprise, has continued to grow year after year.
the story…
All of the TIMBER! designs fit into a story that sets a conflict between lumberjacks and their bosses with forest dwellers, including bigfoot, stuck in the middle. Each design adds more to the story, and as a body of work, have created a complex mythology involving issues with environment and labor among other things.

I feel as if I can smell wood chips and a wood burning fire place. As Chad hands gently rub… wait, what!?!?
Check out Chad Eaton from Timber!, the amazing artist of their logo & banner in this awesome video of him paining a mural in some underground dungeon of some sort for Faces & Laces and Element. (via The Beard Club)

When good weather arrives, it’s time to head outside. But what if you’re tired of the same old, tame old wilderness pursuits like hiking, biking and tent camping? Well, hold on to your hats (and boots and backpacks, too). Here are some bold open-air diversions — like sky diving, at left — that let you enjoy nature to the extreme. Just don’t try them without proper training, robust equipment and plenty of “leave no trace” respect for the places you pass through. (Text: Sidney Stevens)

My life is somewhat illustrated and cartoonish at times. Burkman Bros. illustrations give me comfort to live my world with rounded edges and and sublime compositions of color. Job well done Bros.
The Brothers Burkman have been cutting up a storm recently, gaining plenty of new fans in Europe – including the likes of Dover Street Market, Liberty & L’Eclaireur – and they’ve just released these illustrated images to show off this collection. Illustrated by Michael Sanderson, they’re a great way to add life to a collection. There’s only so many pictures of dead eyed surly models in the woods we can take. (Selectism)

The iconoclastic Thurston Moore has captivated audiences worldwide for nearly 30 years as a singer and guitarist for the pioneering noise-rock band Sonic Youth — and, more recently, as a solo artist. In this performance, Moore turns down the volume for an acoustic set of songs from his introspective new album, Demolished Thoughts. Moore is joined onstage by violinist Samara Lubelski, harpist Mary Lattimore, drummer John Malone and guitarist Keith Wood of Hush Arbors.
Recorded live at The Queen in Wilmington, Del., Moore performs here as part of the 11th annual NON-COMMvention on May 19.
